We have an exciting opportunity for a Peer Reviewing Forensic Reporting Scientist with specialisation in one or more forensic disciplines who is competent to review results and opinion. The jobholder will have knowledge of the legal system as it pertains to forensic science and an in-depth knowledge of present scientific techniques and relevant associated statistical evaluation and interpretation.
Interpretation of results and provision of expert opinion in reports and statements.
Attendance at court as an expert witness as required.
Application of CAI (Case Assessment and Interpretation) approaches.
The suitable applicant will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Biology, Genetics, Chemistry or Physics or related subject as appropriate to area of discipline specialism. They will also have:
significant experience working as a Forensic Scientist, demonstrating competence in reporting and peer reviewing a range of cases potentially including serious crimes such as rape and murder.
Experience in laboratory examination of case exhibits for biological fluids, trace and other evidence types relevant to discipline specialisms.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills. They will be flexible, organised and have great attention to detail and accurate record keeping. They will also be proactive with an innovative and practical approach to problem-solving.
