Role Summary
Examiner of firearms and related items for forensic purposes including identification, classification and testing. Potential development of role to court-presenting and shooting incident work.

Duties & Responsibilities
Make contemporaneous examination notes, photographs and diagrams as appropriate; create and keep accurate records of all work undertaken.
Work alone or as part of a team to strict standard operating procedures (in accordance with international standards, including ISO17025).
Handle firearms and related items in a safe manner.
Act as safety observer during test-firing of firearms.
Operate, test-fire or dismantle firearms and related items.
Conduct equipment performance tests
Maintain records for stock and reference materials
Participate in off-site examinations or crime scenes with experienced scientists, as required.
Attend court to give factual evidence if required.

Terms & Conditions
Hours – 37 per week
Location – Warrington
Salary – £16,800 per annum, rising to £19,000 following completion of 6 month probationary period
Holidays – 25 days per annum plus statutory holidays
Pension – Contributory
