This position provides services devoted to the true and accurate identification of individuals. This is carried out by the physical and scientific process of obtaining fingerprint and palm print impressions, digital photographs, Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) samples and other forms of measurements and processes necessary to establish the identity of criminals.
Major responsibilities include:
Obtain fingerprint/palm impressions, digital mug shot photographs and descriptive information of all persons charged with indictable offences.
Obtain blood samples from convicted persons for inclusion in the National DNA Data Bank.
Utilize the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) to conduct fingerprint searches.
Perform analysis and visual comparison of fingerprint impressions for confirmation of identity.
High School Diploma or equivalency (GED), and the completion of a certificate program demonstrating competence in Fingerprint Science, Fingerprint Classification, and Tenprint and Latent friction ridge comparison, plus a minimum of one year of related experience in the field of forensic criminal sciences involving the analysis of fingerprints is required.
An intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required.
Must be eligible to obtain certification as a Level 2 Community Peace Officer.

An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.
