West Yorkshire Police are looking to appoint Advanced Digital Forensic Investigators to be based at sites in all five West Yorkshire Districts. Successful candidates will initially be based in Calder Park, Wakefield before moving to agreed location.

There are also ‘weekend working’ posts available at Calder Park, Wakefield, where candidates will work every weekend alongside 3 days mid-week and benefit from weekend enhancement rates.

These roles are generally suited to people who have experience of working in Digital Forensics. Prospective applicants who do not have previous experience of working in Digital Forensics (including those who have recently acquired a Digital Forensics Degree), are encouraged to consider applying for one of our Digital Forensic Technician roles, which are also advertised. These are a more appropriate entry level position to digital forensics.

You will be part of the Digital Forensic Unit, providing technical knowledge and investigative skills in all aspects of digital forensics, supporting an investigation. You will be responsible for all levels of digital investigations.

You will support the investigation of serious crime and report to a Senior Digital Forensic Investigator, you will be involved in all types of investigation. You may be required to attend live crime scenes and Magistrates search warrants to advise investigating officers and oversee activities of other Digital Forensic Staff.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a Digital Forensic environment (or similar experience), come with advanced knowledge and expertise of common operating systems and applications. You must have an aptitude for problem solving, in a methodical and orderly manner.

You will be required to be educated to a degree level in a computer-based discipline, or be able to demonstrate significant experience and understanding of working in a digital forensic environment. You should also have a working understanding of the forensic examination of digital devices with experience of working on all crime types.

As a full current UK/European driving licence holder, you must have the willingness and ability to travel for business purposes and to work flexibly to suit the requirements of the department. You must be prepared to participate in a standby Rota if required.

This is a very challenging and demanding, but also rewarding role. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment, and will be required to undergo regular psychological assessments.
